M-OntoMat-Annotizer

Linking Ontologies and Multimedia Low-Level Features for Multimedia Analysis, Reasoning and Retrieval

Abstract
M-OntoMat-Annotizer (M stands for Multimedia) is a user-friendly tool developed inside the aceMedia project. It is an extension of the CREAM (CREAting Metadata for the Semantic Web) framework and its reference implementation, OntoMat-Annotizer.

For this reason, the Visual Descriptor Extraction Tool (VDE) tool was developed as a plug-in to OntoMat-Annotizer and is the core component for extending its capabilities and supporting the initialization and linking of RDF(S) domain ontologies with low-level MPEG-7 visual descriptors.

M-OntoMat-Annotizer Visual Editor and Media Viewer present a graphical interface for loading and processing of visual content (images and videos), extraction of visual features and association with domain ontology concepts. This extracted knowledge plays a central role in automatic semantic analysis, through tools currently being developed in aceMedia that automatically analyse content, generate metadata and annotation, and support intelligent content search and retrieval services.

Notes
M-OntoMat-Annotizer is a Java-based application and currently works only with Java JRE 1.4. Additionally, it uses Java Media Framework (JMF) 2.1.1e for the video playback, therefore installation of the JMF is needed. Although M-Ontomat-Annotizer is Java-based, the use of a Feature Extraction Toolbox restricts its use to Windows platforms only.

License
M-OntoMat-Annotizer is distributed under the GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE included in the license.txt file of the application distribution. Additionally, the ILP rights of the ontology data model, as contained in the ontoedit.jar extension (supplied with the application distribution also), are with Ontoprise GmbH, Karlsruhe, Germany and the use of this module is allowed only as part of M-OntoMat-Annotizer. Further, it is forbidden to decompile this module.
