a project financed by the 6th Framework Programme
As outlined in the sixth framework work programme, the strategic objective 2.3.1.7 raises issues of "self-organising, automated, robust and scaleable knowledge services, which can be directly called by information devices or computer programs". The aceMedia project addresses exactly these issues, since the global objective of the aceMedia project is to discover and exploit knowledge inherent to (or embedded in) content in order to make it adaptable to the user; to automate annotation at all levels; and to add functionality to ease content creation, transmission, search, access, consumption and re-use. Within this context, main objective of WP7 is to map the technical and innovative results of the project into the strategic and business opportunities overall. Specifically, the objectives of WP7 are to:
aceMedia will have a durable impact by creating self sustaining mechanisms for dissemination of results, technology transfer, training and a set of mechanisms and tools, which can be exploited to the benefit of the European Community. The legacy of the EC funded project period will be a new form of digital media and several systems and tools to process and produce media targeting a highly skilled community. There are many communication and dissemination activities planned throughout the duration of the project to share the results and achievements of the project.
WP7 will create an exploitation plan, which will be acted on within partner companies, such that aceMedia technology appears on future product roadmaps, and that tangible product and service ideas are generated. WP7 will also drive regular publications, presentations, standards submissions, and patents, in order to meet the stated dissemination objectives. Particular attention will be paid to workshops and open day events, which will enable dissemination beyond the research and scientific community. In addition, the aceMedia website will continue to be developed, and will be improved and enhanced via feedback received from website visitors.
aceMedia has generated a significant number of publications and further publications are in progress. aceMedia is holding clustering discussions with several related projects including Metokis, KnoweledgeWeb, DIP and SEKT. aceMedia has also contributed to the convergence of knowledge and content techhnologies clustering workshop EWIMT, which was held in London between 30th November and 1st December 2005.
