WP1: aceMedia project management

Objectives

aceMedia is co-ordinated by Motorola Ltd. The project management team ensure that all aceMedia technical activities as defined in the project plan are executed to a high quality level, and that all deliverables are completed according to the project schedule.

The aceMedia project management team is supported by three committees representing the contributing partners, and the workpackage leaders :

• aceMedia Steering Board on which the major industrial and technical partners have a seat.
• aceMedia Technical Management Committee on which all partners have equal representation, so that all partners contribute to the direction of aceMedia.
• independent Scientific Board which will be used to support aceMedia self-evaluation activities (see WP8 description).

The main goals of WP1 are:

• co-ordinate the aceMedia Integrated Project technical activities
• define the aceMedia architecture, ensuring coherent development and integration between all WPs.
• ensure all deliverables are completed according to the project schedule
• deliver management reports to the EC according to the schedule specified in the contract Appendix X
• set and maintain aceMedia's strategic direction
• exercise financial control of aceMedia
• set and maintain a consistent legal framework within aceMedia
• develop and execute a communication plan
• develop and maintain an intellectual property plan

Innovation

This workpackage provides flexible and innovative processes to enable efficient and effective management of the overall project making use of steering board to provide overall coherence and co-ordination of the technical and strategic workpackage activities.

Workplan

WP1 is responsible for production of periodic management reports to the EC, as well as internal reports and deliverables to aceMedia partners.

aceMedia Architecture

To ensure a consistent and coherent design and specification within aceMedia, the system architecture definition is led by the aceMedia Chief Architect, supported by an architecture team within WP1. This will enable the consortium to demonstrate the innovative aceMedia vision consistently while constraining integration efforts to manageable proportions. An aceMedia development process has been also put in place by WP1 ensuring that user requirements and user evaluation are taking place in the development cycle of the corresponding workpackages, as well as facilitating integration efforts.
