The research group ISWeb–Information Systems and Semantic Web is part of the faculty of informatics at the University of Koblenz, which has a track record of over 25 years of research and teaching in informatics, computational visualistics (including multimedia) and information management. The research group ISWeb has recently been founded in order to dedicate its research and teaching to the areas of semantic data management, semantic integration, semantic system management and data mining.
With major work on computational visualistics (including imaging, multimedia and computer vision) and Semantic Web, the University of Koblenz-Landau brings a unique focus to aceMedia for further development towards more intuitive, semantically meaningful media access. Projects currently starting at ISWeb include the EU IST integrated project "ASG–Adaptive Services Grid", where ISWeb is responsible for distributed semantic registries and semantic descriptions of grid services, and project Halo, a cross-Atlantic effort focusing on the facilitation of the ontology and rule engineering process in natural sciences.
